BREAK INTO ‘TOP GEAR’ IN THE BLACK FOREST, AS BRENNER’S PARK-HOTEL & SPA UNVEILS FLEET OF VINTAGE CARS –
VW SAMBA, VW BEETLE AND PORSCHE 928
Germany

Brenners Park-Hotel & Spa, the grand dame of Baden-Baden, invites guests to try their ‘top gear’, with the launch of the hotel’s new driving experience in one of three classic cars in the ‘Brenners Fleet.’ Brenners has long been associated with classic cars, with Baden-Baden playing host to the annual the ‘concours d’élégance automobile’, the famous gathering of prestigious cars dating back to the 17th-century. Classic car enthusiasts can now ‘make like Bond’ and put their foot down all the way through the beautiful Black Forest on one, two, or all three routes, taking their pick from the ‘Brenners Fleet’ – a VW Samba ‘Oskar’, a VW Beetle ‘Herbie’, or a Porsche 928. ‘Oskar’, the first member of the Brenners Fleet, is a special edition VW T1 minibus also known as the ‘Samba’ bus. ‘Herbie’, a name inspired by film classics, offers particularly in the summer months a nostalgic open-top motoring experience through Baden-Baden’s romantic surrounds. The star of the fleet however is the Porsche 928, a small yet refined ‘gran turismo’ car which became a top model for the brand differed clearly from its predecessors. The specially created tours pass through some of the most exquisite settings in the picturesque Black Forest, including Mummelsee Lake – where legend has it, comes alive at night with the King of the Lake and his mermaids. Adventurous spirits can explore the lake’s perimeter path or scale the nearby 1164m Hornisgrinde, the highest peak in the Northern Black Forest. Motorists will have the chance to experience the Black Forest like never before as they shoot past the Schwarzenbach-Talsperre, the largest reservoir in the Northern and Middle Black Forest at 668.5m above sea level. A short, scenic boat tour away, the journey continues to Freudenstadt which boasts Germany’s largest market. Down the famed road from Baden-Baden to Freudenstadt is the third route, the oldest and most well-known in the Black Forest. It offers spectacular views of the Rhine Valley stretching as far as the Vosges Mountains. Guests can savour the drive through the Murg Valley with its unparalleled panoramas and varied hiking opportunities.
