THE LANESBOROUGH LAUNCHES NEW FRIDA KAHLO-INSPIRED AFTERNOON TEA
Celebrating the opening of the most talked about exhibition of the year, Frida Kahlo: Making Her Self Up at the nearby Victoria & Albert Museum this summer, The Lanesborough has launched a new afternoon tea inspired the colours, shapes and textures of the life of Mexican artist, Frida Kahlo.
May 22ndLONDON

Created by Michelin-starred Head Pastry Chef Gabriel Le Quang, the Afternoon Tea is available from now and costs £39 per person, or £49 per person with a glass of Champagne or Margarita each.
Breaking away from the traditional afternoon tea, this playful twist on the classic Lanesborough tea starts with a taste of ‘Agua de Jamaica’, the classic Mexican water flavoured with hibiscus that is typically drank in the Mexican merienda (afternoon tea period). Guests can also indulge in the full merienda experience by enjoying a Mexican spiced hot chocolate instead of tea or coffee to accompany their afternoon tea.
Served alongside The Lanesborough’s famous scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam, and a selection of classic finger sandwiches, the new pastry creations and inspirations include:
Corn sablé with dulce de leche – Combining the quintessentially Mexican flavours of corn and traditional dulce de leche
Margarita Baba – A classic baba with a Margarita twist using agave and tequila, a favourite of Frida
Carrot Cake – A twist on the carrot cake, decorated in vibrant Frida-esque style
Passion Fruit and Raspberry Éclair – Inspired by Frida’s work with Central American flavours
Mexican Chocolate Tartelette – Made with Mexican chocolate and garnished with delicate sugar flowers
